How we work

We never start with a solution. We start with what your business earns money on — because without that answer there's no way to tell what's worth building.

1. We ask what pays

Not every service in a business is worth the same. One pays well for the time it takes. Another eats half a day and leaves almost nothing behind.

You already know which is which. That's the first thing we want to hear, and it governs everything that follows.

Questions we ask

  • Which service earns you the most per hour worked?
  • Which one would you like less of?
  • Which customers come back, and why?
  • What does a customer usually ask right before deciding?

2. We measure where customers are lost

Between someone searching and someone booking there are a handful of points where people drop off. The point of measuring is to stop guessing which one is yours.

Where customers drop off Four common points where a customer stops: doesn't find you, finds you but doesn't understand what you offer, understands but can't see how to book, books but gets no reply. The diagram shows the sequence, not measured values. Searching for what you sell Finds you Understands what you offer Books drop off here and here and here
Schematic of the sequence. Where your business loses most customers is a matter of measurement, not assumption.

3. We set a baseline before changing anything

If we don't know how things look today, there's no way to say whether anything improved. So we measure first and change afterwards.

It also means you can stop at any point and still have something: knowing where your business leaks is yours, regardless of who does the work afterwards.

4. We build — and measure again

Then the work gets done: the site, the visibility, the automation. Afterwards we compare against the baseline.

If something had no effect we say so. Work that didn't succeed is information, not something to hide.

What we need from you

What you know about the business

Which services pay, which customers you want more of. Nobody can work that out from the outside.

Access to what exists

The current site and its statistics, to the extent they exist. If they don't, that's an answer too.

One point of contact

Someone who can answer questions and make decisions. Work that waits for approval rarely turns out well.

What we don't do

  • We don't go into your operations. Booking systems, records and invoicing are your area.
  • We don't promise rankings. Nobody controls a search engine, and anyone claiming to is selling something other than what it sounds like.
  • We don't take every job. If we're not right for your situation we'd rather say so up front.
